Maghreb Steel is fully aware of the direct and indirect impacts of its activities. Therefore, with an ethical concern and a respect of national regulations, Maghreb Steel has opted for a process of management and protection of the environment. Its purpose is the setting-up of an environmental management system complying with the standard ISO 14001. This system will help control the significant environmental impacts due to products, activities and services while saving energy, promoting and reducing solid and liquid wastes.Concretely, Maghreb Steel has set up numerous procedures for the treatment of solid and liquid wastes:
- A sewage treatment plant of used waters discharged by the different manufacturing processes.
- A regenerating and recycling station of used acids.
- Two sewage treatment plants “Scrubbers” of acid fumes released by the pickling process.
- An incinerator of solvents, which treats volatile organic solvents released during paint drying in the prepainting line.
