Royal Presence for Maghreb Steel new industrial complex
His majesty King Mohammed VI has graciously honored us by laying the foundation stone of Maghreb Steel new hot-rolling mill complex. This manufacturing unit, based on a surface area of 55 hectares, is located in the new industrial park “Bled Solb” (which literally means the “Steel Village”), in the rural estate of Chellalate.Maghreb Steel realizes then an ambitious investment of 3.7 billion dirham, aiming to produce 1 million ton of steel a year. The building of the hot-rolling mill complex will proceed in 3 stages. The first stage, which will be operational beginning of 2009, will include the reheating furnace and the hot-rolling mill. The second one, planned for 2010, will see the steelworks construction and the continuous flowing. Finally, the third stage of the project, a blast furnace will operate in 2011.
This important project of Maghreb Steel, first one of its kind in Morocco, will generate about 1100 jobs. It will be the driving-force of Bled Solb area, which will extend over a surface of 130 hectares, and welcome large industrial units, an adult continuing education center, as well as administrative dependences, a mall, a mosk, open and entertainment spaces. The total amount of expected investments on this industrial area will attain the sum of 10 billion dirham and generate 20 000 jobs. A surface of 7 hectares is also planned for housing 570 families from shanty town “Brahma”. This project is realized in collaboration with Idmaj Sakane organism and will cost about 40 million dirham.
These important projects will stimulate the creation of wealth and jobs in our country, and will participate to the objectives of the program Emergence.
